JORDAN WYLIE'S 15x15x15: DAY TEN - BRECON BEACONS

Day 10 saw me in familiar territory, the good old Brecon Beacons, a place I knew very well from my time as a soldier in the Army. Seeing the welcome sign, sent a shiver down my spine and reminded me of many a cold, wet night sleeping under the stars. The Brecon Beacons are beautiful but from a soldiers perspective were often unforgiving and relentless, this was the reason many elite units such as the SAS, Royal Marines and Paras spent a lot of time here, they say you can find all 4 seasons in a day here and today was going to be one of those days, it did not disappoint.

The hills and valleys of the Brecon Beacons offer a wide variety of running, all sharing the same mountainous scenery and stunning views in this beautiful part of South Wales. Given It was a bank holiday it was no surprise to see the place over loaded with tourists although most of them stayed on the travellers trails, something I always try my best to avoid where possible. jordan wylie | MONTANE Given how fatigued my body had become over the last two weeks, my mission today was to simply get the miles in, I wasn’t trying to be a superhero and was certainly not going to be attempting any of the famous SAS selection routes such as the Fan Dance. I opted to stay in the low ground at the base of the valleys with most of my running hand railing the main transit road (A470) right through the centre of the National Park. This allowed me to achieve my objective, avoid the crowds and enjoy the splendid back drops without feeling them as much as I once did in my military days, another day down, not long to go now! Next stop Pembrokeshire Coast...
